Who we are
daano is a young German lifestyle brand that reimagines conscious cooking and sustainable enjoyment. We develop thoughtfully designed premium products for the kitchen – products that combine design, functionality, and durability without compromise.
Our first product: cutting boards that are dishwasher safe like plastic, knife-friendly like wood, and maintenance-free like metal.
How it all began
After a move, a simple question arose: Which cutting board is the right one?
Wood? Beautiful, but not dishwasher safe. Plastic? Practical, but microplastics end up in your food. Bamboo? Hard, ruins knives. Metal? Loud and cold. Glass? A nightmare for any blade.
No matter which option we considered, there was always a catch. Always a compromise.
So we began to search. Not for the best available board. But for the board that should actually exist.
Two years. 240 flights. Thousands of euros. One goal.
The search wasn't a sprint. It was a marathon through factories, trade fairs, material samples, and endless tests. Sixteen hours a day. Always with the same question: Is there a solution without compromise?
We became skeptical, especially about products from China – their reputation often speaks against their quality. But then we came across a small family business that was different.
A company that focuses on innovation. That hates disposable products just as much as we do. That works with pride and precision – not for quick profit, but for the cause itself.
And then we held it in our hands for the first time: the centerpiece .
The moment everything became clear
It wasn't a rational ticking off of criteria. It was a feeling.
The feel. The warmth of the material. The way the knife glided through the board. Numerous tests later confirmed what we already knew at that moment: This is it.
But it was more than just the product. It was the encounter with people who embody quality. Who take the details seriously. Who smile when they talk about their work. Who think the same way we do: Products must make sense.
At that moment it was clear: We want to work with them. We want to show this board to the world.
Why Daano?
The name comes from Persian – from “daana”. It means two things:
Core. The essence. The most important component.
Well thought out. Clever. A smart decision.
That is precisely our mission: to develop products that form the core of everyday kitchen life – and are so well thought out that you don't have to think twice.
Against the current
It wasn't easy. Big brands dominate the market. Numerous suppliers tried to copy us or block our path.
But we're still here. Not because we're the loudest. But because we took the time to do it right.
In a world focused on power, speed, and quick money, we have consciously chosen a different path. We remain customer-centric. We develop products that are truly needed – not those designed solely for sale.
This presents difficulties. But if the business starts to become pointless – if customer focus is lost – then we would prefer not to continue at all.
Our vision
In the long term, we want to develop more than just cutting boards. We want to bring high-quality, essential products to the market that are innovative and enhance everyday life.
Products that last. Products that make sense.
